Cause for Paws 2013, Portsmouth, VA

Cause for Paws 2013It was a bright and sunny day at Cause for Paws this year, a balmy 70 degrees, perfect for canines and humans alike!  It was our best turnout ever for the 5K race and 1 mile dog walk.  Thank you to everyone who came, participated and donated in support of the Portsmouth Humane Society.  The setting for this event is spectacular, right along the waterfront in Old Towne Portsmouth, VA.  The event was held on Saturday, April 13th.  The bake sale was stupendously yummy, the silent auction was spectacular, the contest and music were a lot of fun too.  My mission this year was to promote the use of more humane tools and techniques for our canine companions. I promoted the use of the Freedom No Pull Harness as a pain free alternative to prong and choke collars.  I am happy to say I was able to convert 4 dog owners by explaining the cons of using their aversive prong collars.  Those dogs will be much happier wearing their new harnesses.  😀
